If you've never tried carrying our product, now's the time to start.
Thousands of accounts have carried our line with great success. The key
to their success lies in the proper merchandising. The Japanese animation
consumer is...
A repeat customer who will rent or buy as many titles as you have in stock.
Usually an 18-35 year old male also interested in comic books, video games,
& science fiction.
With these customers it is essential that you continue to bring in new
releases. Once a customer has seen all of the titles on your shelf, he'll
go elsewhere for more. When Japanese animation is given its own section
in your store, your success rate with the product will greatly increase.
Your Japanese animation section should contain at least twenty titles
to be effective in attracting customers. The shelf life of a Japanese
animation title is also much longer than the average feature film, with
new fans being converting to the genre daily.
As many Japanese animation titles contain mature themes with some degree
of sex and violence, we strongly urge you not to place these titles in
your Children's section.
Please take some time to look over the website. We feel certain that
when you decide to carry Japanese animation, you'll reap the profits that
our other customers are enjoying. Thanks again for your interest!
We understand you may have a few questions and concerns. Here will address
a few of the more common ones:
Why should I carry Japanese animation?
Almost every university in the US has an animation club with members actively
searching for places to rent and buy Japanese animation.
Retailers who carry video games will have a built in customer base for
our product. Many games are inspired by Japanese animation characters
and vice versa. For instance, the series Area 88 inspired its own game,
while Battle Arena Toshinden is based on the Playstation game .
Military customers are incredibly interested in the genre. Stores in military
base towns have seen tremendous sell-through.
Japanese animation rents year-round, unlike most B movie titles.
With the proper signage and posters (which we'll provide), our product
will return its investment very quickly due to its low price point. At
least two releases (either dubbed in English or subtitled) are available
each month to quell your customers' appetite for more Japanese animation.
"It 's really expensive."
The average list price for DVDs is getting lower everyday. They range from a high of $29.99 to a low of $6.95 for a single title. With these prices, you'll make a quick return on
your investment. Plus, the anime consumer is a repeat customer, so if
you sell one title, you'll soon be selling more.
"I carried a couple of pieces, but it didn't sell."
If you're only carrying a couple of pieces, they're probably getting lost
on your shelves. You'll have greater success if you set up a Japanese
animation section with at least ten titles. If that's too much to ask,
try putting it in the New Release section to start, then file it in or
near your Science Fiction section. If you're carrying the mature titles,
you may want to file them in your Adult section.
"Other stores in my area already carry it. "
You may have competition that carries some of our product; but with over
500 titles available from Central Park Media, they certainly won't have
it all. Japanese animation is a growing market, and if you're not carrying
it, you're losing potential revenue to your competition. |
